Large Letters Motif

1858 1C Large Letters MS66 PCGS. High Leaves Reverse. Closed E in ONE. A high-grade example of the short-lived introductory small cent type. Flying Eagle cents are notorious for softness on the eagle's tail and the upper leaves of the reverse wreath, but the present piece approaches a full strike. The coin is devoid of apparent abrasions. The obverse legends are lightly strike doubled. Population: 48 in 66 (6 in 66+), 3 finer (4/19).(Registry values: N4719)
