Description

1920-D Buffalo Nickel, MS66
Only One Certified Finer

1920-D 5C MS66 NGC. A plentiful issue among Denver Mint Buffalo nickels of the first two decades. Only the 1916-D and 1917-D issues had higher mintages. The next Denver Mint issue with a higher mintage was the 1935-D nickel. Despite the extensive production, this is a condition rarity with an average grade of AU50. NGC and PCGS, combined, have examined 12 submissions that are graded MS66, with just one finer coin. This sharply struck example has brilliant luster beneath lovely gold, blue, and violet toning. The appearance is distinctive with dappled toning on the obverse. Census: 4 in 66, 1 finer (11/22).(Registry values: N4719)
