Monumental 1755 Pattern Two Ducat Appearance

Elizabeth gold Pattern 2 Ducats 1755 MS62 NGC, Moscow mint, KM-PnA11 ("Rare"), Bitkin-Unl., Diakov-Unl., Fr-112 ("Unique"). 8.03gm. Friedberg lists the 1755 date in their reference for Catherine's 2 Ducat (with reverse eagle) but also states, in the margin prior to the reference, that the same 1755 2 Ducat is actually a pattern and is unique. That is a major declaration from Friedberg that would place this present specimen among the most desirable trophies of Russia's most esteemed numismatic rarities. However, Krause only expresses "Rare" in their reference (though they do list the piece as a Pattern), and Bitkin makes no mention of this particular date and type combination at all. If the current NGC census information for this issue is completely accurate, this is not a unique type, as currently two MS62's appear in the population report. Nonetheless, it is without a doubt that this 1755 2 Ducat is a spectacularly rare issue, surely to be of extreme importance to Russia's passionate collector base, as our research into previous auction records came up empty.

We are thrilled that this enormous rarity is accompanied by beauty; the lightly toned surfaces are dazzlingly flashy, even reflective in some areas. Such luminous presence combined with picture perfect motifs creates tremendous eye appeal; Elizabeth's portrait is particularly stunning, possessing a level of detail in her hair, clothes, and face that would be difficult to upstage. Moderate chatter in the fields and light abrasions scattered throughout the flan limit the assignment to near-Choice, but these are but a footnote on such a special offering. 絕無僅有的1755年雙杜卡特金樣幣

1755年伊莉莎白2杜卡特金樣幣。MS62 NGC。
