(1785) Bar Copper, AU50
W-8520, Pleasing Patina

(1785) Bar Copper AU50 PCGS. Rulau-E-NY-621, Breen-1145, W-8520, R.4. Original bar coppers circulated extensively during the close of the 18th century, and many examples seen today are worn or impaired. Mint State examples are rare, as are high-end AU coins. This About Uncirculated piece displays uniform reddish-brown patina with mildly glossy surfaces. A carbon spot at 6:30 on the obverse border serves as a pedigree marker. Listed on page 41 of the 2026 Guide Book.
