Description

1867 5C No Rays PR65 ANACS. Only 600 proofs were reportedly struck of this second year of issue, and first year of the modified design. While this coin presents as brilliant, close examination reveals just the slightest trace of patina on each side. The fields are deeply mirrored and the obverse devices display a noticeable amount of frost against the unfathomable glassiness in the fields. A star points between AM in AMERICA on this proof subtype. A carefully preserved Gem with a very pleasing appearance.(Registry values: N2998)
