Description

1922 Grant Half Dollar, MS64
Low-Mintage Issue 'With Star' Variety

1922 50C Grant With Star MS64 PCGS. When issued, The Grant Memorial Commission offered the With Star variety at $1.50 per coin (4,256 pieces distributed) and the No Star variant at 75 cents each (67,405 pieces distributed). Accordingly, the With Star variety commands more than a tenfold premium over the No Star coins in lesser grades. The differential diminishes in high Uncirculated grades, yet this near-Gem Grant With Star still benefits from its original low mintage. It is a mostly brilliant example that displays faint ice-blue toning at the upper obverse margin. Die wear limits the sharpness of Grants middle hair strands, but marks are few and frosty luster provides plentiful eye appeal.(Registry values: N1793)
