Description

1797 Draped Bust Dime, XF45
JR-1, 16 Stars, CAC Endorsed

1797 10C 16 Stars, JR-1, R.4, XF45 PCGS. CAC. The 16-star obverse is the chief identifier of this scarce 1797 dime die pairing, although the student of early varieties may just as quickly recognize the heavy die break that separates the date from the bust on the JR-1 obverse. This Choice XF representative shows boldly and evenly struck motifs with little loss of detail from circulation. The deep, original coloration shows russet, ebony, forest-green, and violet around the peripheries, with nickel-gray and olive-gold interiors. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS Population: 6 in 45, 29 finer. CAC: 2 in 45, 8 finer (10/25).
