1943-S Cent, A Virtually Perfect MS68

1943-S 1C MS68 PCGS. CAC. David Lange, in his 1996 The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents, says that "Although saved in vast numbers, the majority of Mint State coins have deteriorated to some degree over the intervening decades. White spotting and even a slight encrustation are not unusual." That said, the grading services have seen a large number of specimens through MS67. The certified population drops precipitously in MS68, where PCGS and NGC have graded only 65 coins and none are finer. Lustrous, virtually pristine surfaces are fully struck. This unbelievable example will be the hallmark of a high-grade Lincoln cent collection. Population: 52 in 68, 0 finer (9/13).(Registry values: N991)
