Description
1912-S Nickel, Satiny MS66
Among the Finest Certified
1912-S 5C MS66 PCGS. A small mintage of 238,000 Liberty Head
nickels was struck over the course of four days in late December,
1912. Touted as "the last of the Lady's Head design" (five
then-unknown 1913 Liberty Head nickels notwithstanding), the 1912-S
was in great demand from day one of its existence as the sole San
Francisco Mint representative of the series, and for its small
mintage. This colorfully toned Premium Gem example is among the
finest known of the issue. Rainbow shades iridescently cover both
sides. The strike is quite sharp, especially on the reverse, with
nearly full definition on the bow and the left-side ear of corn.
Liberty's curls show only slight blending with a pair of light
marks, one at the forehead and another hidden in the forecurls.
