Choice AU Large Planchet
Noe-2 Straight Tree Shilling
1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet AU55 NGC.
CAC. Crosby 4-F, Noe-2, R.5. No pellets at trunk. 71.4 gn. The
popular Straight Tree variety, A lustrous and beautiful
chocolate-brown and sea-green Choice AU shilling. A straight mint
clip at 4 o'clock takes the coin slightly out of round, but most
peripheral letters are fully present. Patience and a strong loupe
locates faint marks on the field near the tree and a concealed mark
on one of the branches, but these have little effect on the blatant
eye appeal. The S-wave shape is characteristic of rocker press
production. Listed on page 37 of the 2009 Guide Book.
