Description

Centered Date Judd-212 1858 Cent Pattern, PR65

1858 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-212, Pollock-263, R.4, PR65 NGC. The obverse features a broad bust point Indian head. The reverse has an oak wreath and shield, similar to the issued 1860 cent except the shield is broad and has an ornamented border. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. This is the Centered Date variant--a common and widely collected pattern. Brightly mirrored on each side with rich red patina and the occasional dash of blue, the reverse is several shades lighter than the obverse. Heavily striated in the fields, which yields the deep proof reflectivity.
