Description

1854-O 50C Arrows, WB-101, Die Pair 25, R.2, MS63 PCGS. Die deterioration on the reverse earns this variety the Crumbled Reverse Die moniker, with crusty metal build-up at the margins and around the interior devices, plus other signs of die stress. A strong "halo effect" on the obverse resembles die doubling on the date and other motifs. The Select Uncirculated surfaces display pleasing blue and reddish-gold toning plus an unexpectedly sharp strike, with a toned over planchet flake between stars 9 and 10.
