Description

1907 Half Dollar, MS66
One Coin Graded Finer, Ex: Gardner

1907 50C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Despite a mintage approaching 2.6 million examples, there are few survivors of the 1907 Barber half issue at the upper grade ranges. This is one of two MS66 representatives pedigreed to the Gardner Collection. The other coin realized $7,637.50 during the sale of Part I of the Gardner Collection (Heritage, 6/2014), lot 30563. This Premium Gem displays scattered areas of toning, primarily at the outer edges, in hues including tan, plum-gray, and teal. Aside from the mottled patina, each side is mostly brilliant with swirling mint frost. Portions of the eagle exhibit minor incompleteness of strike, while the obverse is pinpoint-sharp throughout. Population: 5 in 66 (1 in 66+), 1 finer. CAC: 4 in 66, 2 finer (5/16).
