Description
1788 Vermont Copper, VF30
GEORGIVS III Mule, RR-31
1788 Vermont Copper, GEORGIVS III REX, RR-31, Vlack 22-88VT,
Bressett 24-U, Miller 100-I, W-2260, W-8090, R.4, VF30 PCGS. A
circa-1789 Machin's Mills muling that pairs a contemporary
counterfeit English halfpenny obverse with a Vermont copper
reverse. This variety thus is part of the Machin's Mills and
Vermont series, and is also collected by some Connecticut copper
collectors since the reverse struck 1788 Miller 1-I (in addition to
Vermont varieties W-2195, W-2215, W-2220, and W-2265). This example
has lightly brought up centers, as usual for RR-31, but peripheral
elements are sharp. The steel-gray and autumn-brown surfaces are
lightly granular. Listed on page 28 of the 2026 Guide
