Description
1861 Twenty Dollar, MS63
Sharp, Frosted, and Appealing
1861 $20 MS63 PCGS. The massive 1861 double eagle mintage
approached 3 million pieces from the Philadelphia Mint -- a record
twenty dollar production that was not surpassed until 1904. Until
shipwreck recoveries replaced it as the most available Type One
double eagle issue in Mint State, the 1861 was the only viable
candidate for an Uncirculated Type One coin. It remains scarce in
Uncirculated condition to this day. This Select Uncirculated
example is sharp, lustrous, and original. Peach-gold surfaces offer
excellent eye appeal. PCGS Population: 46 in 63 (3 in 63+), 23
finer (10/25).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269G, PCGS# 8932, Greysheet# 9797)
Weight: 33.44 grams
