Description

1861 Three Cent Silver, PR66
Attractively Toned

1861 3CS PR66 PCGS. From a mintage of 1,000 pieces, the 1861 proof three cent silver piece is conditionally rare at Premium Gem and finer levels. Peripheral toning on the obverse exhibits a rainbow of ice-blue, amber-gold and lavender around the untoned central star. The reverse is similar but includes shades of ice-blue within the central C. The strike is sharp and the highly reflective fields reveal only light grade-consistent marks. PCGS reports only six numerically finer non-Cameo proofs (12/25).(Registry values: N2998)
