Description
Finest Certified 1859-O Dime, MS68
An Intensely Lustrous Beauty
1859-O 10C MS68 NGC. The obverse has a low date that appears
to slope up slightly to the right. Die chips are evident at stars 3
through 6. Light clash marks are visible on both sides, and the
obverse is cracked across Liberty's head to star 8, the cap, star
9, and from stars 10 to 12. The reverse has minor clash marks, and
the mintmark tilts slightly to the right. The average certified grade of all 1859-O dimes is only MS60, so this Superb Gem MS68 example is far above the typical piece encountered. It is highly lustrous with satiny mint brilliance beneath intense blue, green, gold, and iridescent toning. Census: 1 in 68, 0 finer (7/10).
