Description
1885-S Double Eagle, MS64
Attractive Type Coin
1885-S $20 MS64 PCGS. A relatively large mintage of 683,500
coins were struck for the 1885-S San Francisco branch mint twenty
dollar gold issue, but only three coins are graded numerically
higher than this fine example. Medium yellow-gold with orange
overtones, this specimen is very attractive. Glowing frosty luster
swirls in cartwheels when rotated under a light. Small contact
marks are not bothersome. Well struck, this is an overall excellent
representative, and would make a great type coin for the
design.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BP, PCGS# 9005, Greysheet# 9942)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
