Description

1942/1-D Dime, Full Bands Near-Gem
Lightly Toned Key

1942/1-D 10C FS-101 MS64 Full Bands PCGS. The 1942/1-D is not only an overdate but a doubled die made from hubs with different dates, with the effect most plain on IN GOD WE TRUST. This well-struck and impressively preserved near-Gem is brilliant aside from a hint of pale golden toning. A great example of a variety that is conditionally rare any better. Population: 37 in 64 Full Bands, 32 finer (9/14).
Ex: Dallas Signature (Heritage, 11/2006), lot 599; Central States Signature (Heritage, 2/2012), lot 4150.
