Description

Impressive 1872-CC Dime, AU55

1872-CC 10C AU55 NGC. While some other Carson City issues may receive more attention, the 1872-CC is one of the rarest dates in that subset, especially in higher grades. NGC has never certified a finer piece, while PCGS has graded one AU58 and one MS63, the only two pieces known to exceed this example.
Both sides have light grayish-silver surfaces with subtle heather, blue, and iridescent toning. Minor planchet anomalies have weakened OF AMER, with all other design elements boldly detailed. Other surface imperfections are characteristic of all early Carson City silver coins. Census: 2 in 55, 0 finer (7/10).
