1803 Draped Bust Dollar, AU50
Small 3, B-5, BB-252
1803 $1 Small 3, B-5, BB-252, R.3, AU50 NGC. Bowers Die
State I. The BB-252 variety is recognized by the small, thin-top 3
in the date and a spur on the outside curvature of D in UNITED.
Caramel-gold and pearl-gray toning embraces this partly lustrous
and lightly circulated example. Tiny marks are distributed, but
none singularly distract. Struck a couple of degrees off-center
toward 2:30, with a wider rim present on the left than on the
right. The Small 3 variety is listed on page 222 of the 2017
