Mint State Examples are Rare

1850-C G$1 XF45 NGC. Winter-1. This second-year issue from the Charlotte Mint survives as one of its rarest gold dollar production runs, delivering only 6,966 pieces. This lightly circulated example serves as a viable alternative for type collectors as finer grades can be cost-prohibitive and challenging to find, with only 48 Mint State pieces available at NGC and PCGS combined (4/25). Lightly abraded with a prominent round imprint underneath the C mintmark, this piece features lovely olive-gold surfaces with nice flashes of orange that deliver attractive eye appeal.(Registry values: N1793)
