Description

1881-CC Silver Dollar, MS67+
Exemplary Luster and Preservation

1881-CC $1 MS67+ PCGS. CAC. A fraction of the Superb Gem 1881-CC Morgan dollar population is CAC endorsed, and an even smaller percentage receive the Plus designation. This Plus-graded coin is frosty and luminous, showing radiant cartwheel luster with exceptional surface quality. The central devices are sharp. The 1881-CC is a plentiful issue among Carson City Morgans, as more than 147,000 coins were released through the GSA sales of the early 1970s. Nonetheless, it is challenging to locate a coin in this level of preservation. PCGS has Plus-graded less than two dozen non-Prooflike pieces in this grade and lists five MS68 coins finer. The same service lists only two Prooflike and two Deep Mirror Prooflike pieces in MS67, with none finer (2/20). This piece is especially appealing and worthy of the finest collection of Morgan dollars or a top-rated Carson City set.
