1875 Three Cent Nickel, MS67
Misplaced Date, FS-301

1875 3CN Misplaced Date, FS-301, MS67 NGC. The serif of a 1 is misplaced along the left border of Liberty's neck, similar to the better known Indian Cent varieties 1890 FS-301 and 1897 FS-401. A satiny and sharply struck Superb Gem, beautifully preserved and nearly untoned. Both proof and business strikes of this variety are known. As of (6/16), the present lot is the only example certified as MS67; also the case 11 years ago.
Ex: Western Hills Collection (Heritage, 6/2005), lot 5375, which realized $4,542.50.
