1861 $20 MS62 NGC. The fields are uncommonly smooth for the grade, although extensive scrutiny with a loupe locates some inconspicuous marks on the cheek. The recovery of the S.S. Republic has made the 1861 affordable in Mint State, but examples remain scarce relative to demand, partly because of its Civil War date.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269G, PCGS# 8932, Greysheet# 9797)
