Description

1834 50C Large Date, Small Letters, O-105, R.1, MS64 PCGS. CAC. The 4 in the date is tall and recut at the bottom side of the crossbar, while the 1 sits low in relation to the 834 and is widely spaced. This near-Gem example currently ranks in a tie for fourth in the Condition Census according to Steve Herrman's listing as well as the Parsley reference. Reddish-gold and grayish-blue toning is lustrous and iridescent across frosty, nearly mark-free surfaces. The strike is first-rate. Housed in an old green label holder (from time of purchase) with CAC endorsement.
