Description

1798 Large Eagle Dollar, VF30
B-11, BB-111, Pointed 9

1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, B-11, BB-111, R.3, VF30 PCGS. Bowers Die State IV. Nut-brown patina mingles with cream-gray accents at the lightly worn high points. Later die states show a ridge or mound beneath Liberty's chin that extends beyond star 13 to the edge, eventually becoming a die crack. This is a glossy and unabraded example, with rich toning and plentiful eye appeal. As typical of the early dollars from this consignor, the surface quality is excellent and only minor marks exist.
