Description

1853-O With Arrows Half Dime, MS66
Only Two Examples Finer

1853-O H10C Arrows MS66 PCGS. CAC. V-3. Adding arrows at the date presented a struggle for the Mint, and the placement and size variations employed from 1853 to 1855 reflect the challenge. The arrowheads are high on this variety, with the left arrow running into the base. A panoply of speckled toning bathes the obverse of this richly toned Premium Gem. Tan, brown, and navy grace both the fields and devices. The upper portion of the reverse is brilliant, with occasional shades of olive, while the remainder exhibits hues of indigo and charcoal. The reverse exhibits a few clash marks within DIME, but this Condition Census example is largely free of die defects often seen in the Seated half dime series. The CAC approval confirms the aesthetic appeal. Population: 4 in 66, 2 finer. CAC: 4 in 66, 2 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N1)
