Description

1912 Barber Half, PR65
Popular Late-Date Proof

1912 50C PR65 NGC. Later-date proof Barber halves were often used for date sets by collectors of that era, rather than pursuing a circulation strike. As a result, many more high-grade proofs were preserved than in earlier years. This is a brightly reflective Gem proof, made in the semibrilliant finish used by the Mint beginning around 1901. Each side is bright, and only the slightest hairlines are present. Census: 23 in 65, 26 finer (3/11).(Registry values: N2998)
