Important Key Issue
First of the Big Three Barber Quarters
1896-S 25C MS64 PCGS. Three Barber quarter issues stand out
among all the others for their low mintage and key-date status. The
three are the 1896-S with a mintage of 188,039, the 1901-S with a
production of 72,664, and the 1913-S with a coinage of 40,000
pieces. All three are typically found in low grades, VG or lower,
or in Mint State grades. In the latter category is this Choice Mint
State 1896-S quarter with brilliant silver surfaces and satin mint
luster. Virtually untoned, this piece is boldly defined with
faintly reflective fields. Population: 12 in 64, 12 finer
