Description

1827 Bust Half, Brilliant MS64+
O-114, Die Defect in Y of LIBERTY

1827 50C Square Base 2, O-114, R.3, MS64+ PCGS. With 49 different die pairs for the issue, a single pick-up point such as the die defect in Y of LIBERTY makes the die pair identification much easier. The O-114 variety confirms with multiple crossbars and shield stripes that extend beyond the shield border. The final A in AMERICA touches the top arrowhead. On the obverse, the 7 is noticeably recut at the stand and at the top-right serif. This attractive example is brilliant and untoned with frosty silver luster over both sides. A high-end near-Gem, it ranks at the lower end of the Condition Census for the variety.
