1872-CC Dollar, AU Details
Low-Mintage Issue, Seldom Seen This Sharp

1872-CC $1 -- Artificial Toning, Cleaning -- NGC Details. AU. OC-1, High R.3. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. A boldly detailed example of this semikey Carson City issue -- one of only four from this mint in the Seated dollar series. Moderately reflective fields are evident beneath the deep, mottled toning that blankets each side in lavender-gray, gold, and russet-olive hues. Some reddish residue remains among the devices from a past cleaning. The 1872-CC had a small mintage of 3,150 coins, reflecting limited commercial demand for silver dollars in the Nevada territory in the early 1870s.
