Description

1860-C Two and a Half, AU55
Final Charlotte Issue

1860-C $2 1/2 AU55 PCGS. Variety 1. No quarter eagles were struck at the Charlotte Mint in 1861, making the scarce 1860-C the final date in the Charlotte short set. High-grade examples are rarely offered. This Choice AU coin displays bright, satiny yellow-gold luster with the usual strike weakness on the eagle's leg and Liberty's temple. Some normal planchet roughness is seen in the reverse fields. Population: 11 in 55, 7 finer (1/17).(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25JT, PCGS# 7792, Greysheet# 8388)

Weight: 4.18 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
