Description

1867 Seated Dollar, PR64 Cameo
Nearly Untoned With Bold Contrast

1867 $1 PR64 Cameo NGC. OC-P1. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. A brilliant proof, untoned except for a faint glint of pale-gold in the right obverse field and within the recesses of the reverse shield stripes. The devices display smooth-white mint frost that earns the Cameo designation. Given the scarcity of high-grade business strikes for the 1867 issue, proofs are in demand by date collectors and series specialists. The strike is razor-sharp on both sides, with only a few delicate lines and small obverse planchet pits visible with a loupe, but few flaws are visible to the unaided eye. Census: 19 in 64 Cameo (2 in 64+, 1 in 64 ), 22 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 252N, PCGS# 87015, Greysheet# 7329)

Weight: 26.73 grams
