Description

1870 Seated Liberty Dollar, PR64 Cameo
Frosted Motifs, Reflective Fields

1870 $1 PR64 Cameo NGC. OC-P1. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. The 1870 proof Seated Liberty dollar is more difficult to locate than its generous mintage of 1,000 pieces suggests. This attractive Choice specimen displays sharply detailed design elements in most areas, with a touch of softness on the eagle's leg. The deeply reflective fields show a few minor hairlines and contact marks and wisps of pale gold toning add to the considerable eye appeal, including an arc of plum-red mint frost across Liberty's midsection. The smoothly rendered motifs offer bold contrast to the glassy fields. Census: 11 in 64 Cameo, 15 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N2998)
