1877-S T$1 MS65 NGC. Minute S, rare. The generous mintage of
nearly 10 million pieces for the 1877-S Trade dollar issue and more
than 4 million for the 1878-S can be viewed in hindsight as the
last great gasps of this interesting silver dollar series.
Comparable Gem 1877-S dollars appear far less often than expected,
since many were melted after legal tender status was lost. This
cream-gray and cobalt-blue example boasts a bold strike and
surfaces unimpaired by any marks worthy of mention. Ideal for type
