1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Close Date, 4 Lines, B-28, BB-118, R.3, AU53 PCGS. Bowers Die State V. The reverse die deterioration shows many stages on this interesting Bolender variety. The present example is intermediate with two prominent die cracks from the border to the arrow feathers left of the eagle's tail. Another crack curves up in the left reverse field through the U and the outer arrowheads to the eagle's wing just below the ribbon. This attractive example has gold and iridescent toning. Struck several degrees off center toward 2 o'clock.
