Description

1870 Gold Three Dollar, MS61
Prooflike Fields

1870 $3 MS61 PCGS. Struck before large quantities of this denomination were set aside by collectors and dealers, the 1870 three dollar gold piece, coming from a mintage of only 3,500 coins, is scarce in any Mint State grade. The present example offers prooflike fields and bright yellow-gold color. The strike is sharp. Scattered abrasions define the grade. Population: 12 in 61, 27 finer (1/17).(Registry values: N2998)
