Description

1875-S T$1 Type One Reverse MS64 PCGS. Large S. By the end of 1875, the San Francisco Mint had struck more than 4.4 million Trade dollars, the majority of which were sent across the Pacific to East Asia. Many were also released into domestic circulation. Survivors are scarce in Choice condition and border on rare in MS65. The surfaces of this near-Gem dollar feature considerable brilliance intermixed with splashes of golden and gunmetal-blue patina. Frosty luster abounds over each side. The strike definition is bold, aside from incompleteness on Liberty's head and a few stars. PCGS has graded 42 numerically finer examples (8/16).
