Description

1846 Seated Liberty Dollar, MS64
Conditionally Scarce This fine

1846 $1 OC-1, R.1, MS64 NGC. Osburn-Cushing Die State e/c. An intermediate die state, with many reverse die cracks and faint die clashing beneath Liberty's arm. The flag of 1 is repunched north. Softly lustrous silver-gray surfaces display pink, blue, and pale-lavender accents. The 1846 date is readily available from the 110,600-piece mintage, but it quickly becomes rare at the MS64 level or finer. The strike is sharp throughout the obverse and the reverse, while smooth and mostly mark-free surfaces are surrounded by strong, wide rims. Natural eye appeal glistens from both sides. NGC
Census: 21 in 64 (1 in 64+), 3 finer (4/25).
