Description

1871-CC Seated Liberty Dollar, F12
Lowest-Mintage Carson City Dollar

1871-CC $1 Fine 12 NGC. The Carson City Mint wasn't fully up to speed in 1871, having just survived its inaugural year in 1870. Only 1,376 silver dollars were produced for the year, with nearly all released into circulation. Although the 1873-CC silver dollar is considered more rare, the 1871-CC is hot on its heels and highly prized in any grade. This example has nice detail for the grade. Full and partial letters of LIBERTY are seen on the high-point shield, with the reverse detail on the eagle that of a higher grade. Dove-gray toning with light-silver highlights cover smooth fields. The rims are wide and bold. Census: 2 in 12, 43 finer (1/14)..(Registry values: N2998)
