Popular Branch Mint Type Three Issue

1859-D G$1 AU58 PCGS. Variety 11-N. Only 4,952 gold dollars were struck at the Dahlonega Mint in 1859 but the issue is still the most available Type Three D-mint gold dollar. This attractive near-Mint example displays well-detailed design elements with just a trace of high-point wear and some dramatic clash marks on the reverse. The pleasing greenish-gold surfaces are lightly abraded and lustrous. Population: 27 in 58, 27 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N2998)
