Description

1848 Liberty Quarter Eagle, MS60
Overlooked Elusive Issue

1848 $2 1/2 MS60 NGC. Although its elusive nature is not widely recognized outside of series specialists, the regular-issue 1848 Liberty quarter eagle is much more difficult to locate in high grade than its more famous CAL designated counterpart. This pleasing Mint State example offers well-detailed design elements, with the often-seen touch of softness on the eagle's leg, and lustrous orange-gold surfaces that show the expected number of minor contact marks for the grade. Census: 1 in 60, 15 finer (6/16).(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25H9, PCGS# 7748, Greysheet# 8269)

Weight: 4.18 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
