Description

1925-D Quarter Eagle, MS66
Bright, Vibrant, Lustrous Surfaces

1925-D $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS. Only three Denver mint Indian quarter eagles were struck and the 1925-D was the final one. This is a remarkably well-produced coin with bright, vibrant mint luster that races around each side, more suggestive of S-mint or CC-mint gold than the usual, more-subdued satiny finish of a Denver product. Part of the reason for the vibrancy seen on this piece are light die striations in the fields, an unusual trait itself. In fact, we cannot remember the last time we have seen such a finish on an Indian quarter eagle. The strike is a bit soft over the headdress, but there are no detracting abrasions present. This is definitely a coin for the collector to circle, underline, and place a star beside in their catalog. Population: 35 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N4719)
