PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. According to VAMWorld.com: "The VAM-4
1880/79 overdate has a strong remnant of the 7 under the 8 that can
be seen as metal in the upper loop of the 8." VAM-4 is
distinguished from VAM-5 by the Small or Micro O mintmark.
Brilliant surfaces are at once lustrous and deeply contrasted. The
devices are remarkably razor-sharp for a New Orleans dollar. Rarely
