Description

1889 Ten Dollar, MS61
Only 4,440 Pieces Struck

1889 $10 MS61 NGC. This Mint State 1889 Liberty eagle is scarce in its current grade, and finer pieces are rarely encountered. This issue comes from a mintage of only 4,440 pieces, explaining its elusiveness in high grade; the San Francisco Mint struck more than 425,000 eagles the same year. The strike is sharp, and both sides display expected abrasions but with attractive straw-gold color. A hint of reflectivity appears in the fields when tilted gently beneath a light.(Registry values: N2998)
