A near-Mint example surviving from a mintage of 636,455 coins, this 1859-S has frosty lemon-yellow luster with considerable pale green and steel-blue patina on both sides, with additional light rose accents. Considerable eye appeal remains despite the typically abraded surfaces. Population: 37 in 58 (1 in 58+), 40 finer (5/16).
