Description

1905-S Double Eagle, MS64
Frosty Peach-Gold Surfaces

1905-S $20 MS64 PCGS. In the second edition of his popular Type Three Double Eagles reference, Mike Fuljenz comments: "It seems likely that a significant number of 1905-S double eagles were melted, as this date is scarcer than its reasonably high mintage would suggest." Clean, peach-gold surfaces radiate thickly frosted luster and show full design definition. Eye appeal is terrific. It is estimated that only 20 coins are finer than the one offered here. PCGS reports 12 higher grading events (5/16).(Registry values: N2998)
