Description

1926-S Twenty Dollar, MS64+
Intensely Radiant Luster

1926-S $20 MS64+ PCGS. Perhaps as many as a few thousand pieces escaped the melting pot of the ill-fated San Francisco issue by way of European hoards, but the vast majority of the 2 million pieces struck never saw circulation and were melted. This borderline Gem survivor exceeds most repatriated examples in both surface quality and eye appeal, with piercing sun-gold luster and only a few minor bagmarks. The sharp strike and vivid coloration suggest an even finer grade. PCGS reports just 39 numerically finer examples. Population: 52 in 64+, 39 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26GF, PCGS# 9185, Greysheet# 10183)
