1794 1C Head of 1794 -- Environmental Damage -- NGC Details. XF. S-22, B-6, R.1. The S-22 is usually recognized by the "Mounds" on the reverse, die bulges inside the upper part of the wreath. However, early die states such as this piece without those bulges requires an alternative identification. The variety is also known as the "Bent Lock" variety, as the sixth hair lock is bent sharply down. This dark mahogany piece has bold detail with light surface corrosion.
